Increasing the duration of electronic visas (EV) and temporary residence for foreigners who are exempt from visas to Vietnam

26-06-23 MTParners

From August 15, 2023, the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam takes effect.

Accordingly, the temporary residence period granted at the border gate for foreigners entering under the unilateral visa exemption regime is adjusted to increase from 15 days to 45 days. Thus, from August 15, 2023, citizens of the following countries will be allowed to stay up to 45 days when entering Vietnam:

  • Germany;
  • France;
  • Italy;
  • Spain;
  • The United Kingdom;
  • Russia;
  • Japan;
  • South Korea;
  • Denmark;
  • Sweden;
  • Norway;
  • Finland; and
  • Belarus.

In addition, foreigners entering Vietnam under the electronic visa (EV) regime will be granted temporary residence for up to 90 days and have multiple entry validity (previously a maximum of 30 days and one-time entry validity).

Hopefully, with the changes of the visa policy mentioned above, Vietnam will attract more tourists to visit and explore Vietnam.

MT & Partners hopes that the article will bring useful knowledge to our readers.
